    b. Book orders come in tomorrow - have your money!
    c. Get that schedule ready!
Come to class tomorrow with a full draft ready to go.
    d. Check bookbags during writing time today.

Mother to Son & Questions" - turn in worksheet.
    b. Assign: Metaphor Poem - draft and peer read today.

Wednesday 1/20

1. Journal/Bell-Ringer: Word of the Day: hitherto (adv): to this point; up until now

    a. Turn in/Work on Independent Reading project (for "computer transfer" students).
    b. Book orders come in today - be sure to pick up your books.
        *All books in class Friday.
   
c. Turn in Metaphor Poem
    d. Schedule signature day is tomorrow! Materials due Friday.

Scheduling Workshop
    a.
Receive your actual schedule sheet (yellow) and apply stickers.
    b. Use pencil to circle your choices on sheet - switch to pen when you are sure!
    c. Teacher help as needed.
4. Reader's Workshop
    a. Read:
"Beware: Do Not Read This Poem"
    b. Discuss:
        1) What is the poem saying?  How does it say it?
        2) Do you agree with what it is saying about literature?
        3) How does the poem create a specific perspective (point of view) for you - create a different world?
5. HW: Prepare schedule for signing.

Thursday 1/21

 

1. Journal/Bell-Ringer: Word of the Day: indigenes (n): native animals or plants

    a. All books in class tomorrow.
    b. Schedule signature day is today - includes parents! Final Materials due tomorrow.

Reader's Workshop
    a.
"12 O'Clock News" - Read and draw the poem! (We'll begin together.)
    b. When done, write out what you think each thing really is!
    c. If all finish, review what the poem really is & discuss themes, answer questions.
4. Scheduling Workshop
    Have schedules signed.

5. HW: 1) Parents sign schedules; 2) Finish
"12 O'Clock News" pictures if needed.
