Monday

 

1. Journal: none

2. Grammar of the Day 7 – 13 quiz.
3. Writer Workshop: Peer
Reading and Revision
    a. Finish any drafting.

    b. Peer Read using the nine questions on p. 126.

    c. When the Peer Reader is done, he/she should bring the written peer read and the author’s rough draft to the teacher to be checked.

    d. Peer Readers return paper to author.

    e. Authors should now begin revision – don’t forget to use the SRD/Revision Scoring Guide!   

f. Teacher reading and conferencing throughout period.

4. Reminder: Enrichment 1 is due Friday.
   

Tuesday

 

1. Journal: Write a brief letter to Mr. Bandow that clearly defines a something in our school needing improvement.
2. Grammar of the Day 14

3. Writer Workshop: Peer Reading and Revision
    a. Finish any drafting.

    b. Peer Read using the nine questions on p. 126.

    c. When the Peer Reader is done, he/she should bring the written peer read and the author’s rough draft to the teacher to be checked.

    d. Peer Readers return paper to author.

    e. Authors should now begin revision – don’t forget to use the SRD/Revision Scoring Guide!

    f. Teacher reading and conferencing throughout period.

    g. If you are ready, begin proofreading and polishing – we will have a proofreading workshop Thursday and Friday as well.

4. Reminder: Enrichment 1 is due Friday.

 

Wednesday

 

1. Journal: 8 minute free write.
2. Grammar of the Day 15

3. Writer Workshop: Definition Essay Contest
    a. Assign Hilliard Darby Courage Contest with handout.

    b. You must do the essay version.

    c. PW and OL today.  We will draft, peer read, and revise next Monday.

    d. You will be graded for use of work time today.

    e. Balance your time wisely – you have a full paper to do as well.  I’ll give class time for the contest writing, so concentrate on your real essay on your own time.

4. Reminder: Enrichment 1 is due Friday.

 

Thursday

 

1. Journal: none

2. Grammar Workshop: Commas, run-ons and sentence combining (laptop labs & computer overhead)

    a. This counts as Grammar of the Day 16.

    b. Go through online ppt together…take notes as needed.

    b. With laptops, complete tutorial as far as you can.

3. Reminder: Enrichment 1 is due tomorrow.

 

Friday

 

INTERIM DAY

 

1. Journal: none

2. Turn in Enrichment and Interim.

3. Writer’s Workshop: Commas, run-ons and sentence combining (laptop labs & computer overhead)

    a. This counts as Grammar of the Day 17.

    b. Finish tutorial with laptops.

    c. When done, apply to your essay.

        1) Eliminate sentence level comma errors from your Definition Essay.

        2) Use sentence combining to enhance style.  Use all five styles.

        3) Finish – FC of Definition Essay is due Wednesday, March 6.
