        *Label Plot Parts together first.

Create a "Surprise and Suspense" Unit Wheel.
        1) Review the unit's essential questions.
        2) What techniques did Poe use to create suspense?
           
*irony, imagery, foreshadowing, mood, narrator/point of view (1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person limited, 3rd person omniscient), setting, sources of literature, suspense, tone, setting
        3) If time, read and answer Q's for "Beware Do Not Read This Poem."

    c. Essential Question: What does this poem tell us about how author's develop Surprise and Suspense? Add to Surprise and Suspense Wheel.

    a. Previewing the text: what to look for...what to expect.
    b. Create obvious lit strategy organizers: Character List to start.
    c. Begin reading together Title Page & Chapter 1.

    c. You will read the same amount proportionally with the SFSB readers and will complete parallel assignments.
    d. Assign: Read Chapter 1 of your book tonight.

    c. Reminder: Notebooks will likely be checked tomorrow.
    d. Discuss reading schedules - typically I like two chapters per day but you tell me.

    a. Class discussion - what do we think of the book so far?
    b. Examine Chapter 1 together.
        1) Study Guide Q's - keep in notebook.
        2) Finding interesting/telling details together for Ch. 1.
        3) Now, in groups of three, do the same thing for Ch. 2.
            *Take notes!
        4) Be prepared to share what you found with the class.

3b. Reader's Workshop: Alternate Novel
      *TURN IN your one pager from yesterday.
    a. Join our discussion about our books - you can share too!
    b. Listen in on our Ch. 1 details discussion.
    c. Individually or in a group, do the same thing for Chapter 2 in your book.
           *Take notes!
    d. Be prepared to share what you found, either as turned in notes or with the class.
