Writer's Workshop I: Rooftop Lab - Dimensional Analysis Paper
    a. Complete overview of Paper Assignment.
        1) Concept: Audience, Purpose, Focus - The Most Important Things in Writing!
        2) Concept: Lab Report Writing - precision.
        3) Concept: The importance of transitions.
        4) Concept: Precise notes - everyone in your group will need them!
    c. Fill in Focus assignment found on first page of the Assignment handout.
    d. Review Helpful Hints
    e. If time, examine graphic organizer so you know exactly what to expect.
4. Writer's Workshop II: Of Mice and Men

    20 minute timed writing: Now that you have a bunch of ideas in your head about friendship, discuss this idea: What role does friendship play in the pursuit of our hopes and dreams?
       a. This is likely a perfect paragraph - maybe even advanced: 2 minors per major.
       b. Use examples from OMM and your life.
       c. Be sure to PW and outline.

       d. Place in front of Practice Work section of portfolio when done.

5. HW: eCampus - review of sample essays by Wednesday.

Tuesday 9/29

    b. Reminder:
eCampus - review of sample essays by tomorrow.

Writer's Workshop: Rooftop Lab - Dimensional Analysis Paper
    a. Reminder of Paper Assignment.
    b. Process Writing: Shapes Activity
        1) Pair off.
        2) You will receive a shape with a number.  Do not show it to anyone else.
        3) Write directions for how to draw your shape in paragraph form.
            *You may use your transitions list to help you.
        4) When done, turn in and I'll give to another group.
        5) Groups try to draw the other's shapes - check on board.
    c. If time, discuss what made this difficult.  How will that relate to the Rooftop Lab Paper.

4. HW: eCampus - review of sample essays by tomorrow.

Wednesday 9/30 (with computers - Carts 8 & 10)

1. Journal/Bell-Ringer: none - get your computer

Business: This Week's Organization Check: Planners

 Writer's Workshop: Rooftop Lab - Dimensional Analysis Paper
    a. Check out some samples on our site - found HERE.
    b. Read and discuss - be sure to note and follow MLA style!
    c. Complete Planning Graphic Organizer, either by hand with handout or by editing the downloadable Word.doc version found HERE.
        *Only do the Word.doc editing if you know what you are doing!
    d. Have Planning Graphic Organizer checked when done or finish for HW.  Once checked, you may begin writing your RD.

Thursday 10/1 (with computers - Carts 9 & 10)

 

1. Journal/Bell-Ringer: none - get computer and get to work.

    a. Write RD of paper.
    b. Finish for HW - print when done.

4. HW: Finish RD of paper, if needed.  Print a copy for class tomorrow.

 

Friday 10/2 (with computers - Carts 9 & 10)

 

1. Journal/Bell-Ringer: none
2.
Business: 1st Period: Checking Planners!
3.
Writer's Workshop: Rooftop Lab - Dimensional Analysis Paper

    a. Print out your paper - if needed.

    b. Complete Peer Reading of another's paper, have it checked by the teacher, and return form and paper to the author.

    c. Authors: Get your paper back and complete hand revisions and editing.

    d. All papers should be ready for final copy typing Monday.

4. HW: None - unless you need to catch up with the paper - due end of period Monday.
