Creative Writing Semester
Project
Types
and Lengths:
Short Story
– 8 -10 typed, DS, one side only pages; written 27-30 pages.
Poetry
– 350 lines total
One act plays, TV scripts, own show, script with film -- appropriate to genre, certainly
20 pages typed minimum
Magazine/Literary Magazine -- adjusted totals according to combination of types all
ads are original as is all artwork, etc…
Novella --
longer that short story so use common sense
Journal:
Fiction or Non-Fiction (must have a focus and an end -- event) -- same as SS
Children’s book -- 12-18 pages: must be a story, subtle theme, original drawings or at
least your ideas for the illustrations; please no clip art or d/l images
Biography (a
real person you can know) or Autobiography -- same as SS
No reports or research papers beyond the biography.

Semester Project Personalized
Peer Reading
1. Journal: On a separate piece of paper, list FIVE things
you really like about your project and FIVE things you wish you could have done
better. Be sure to leave at least TWO
lines between each entry so that a peer reader may make comments.
2. Semester Project Personalized Peer Reading Workshop
a. Give your semester project and
Personal Peer Reading Guide to a Peer Reader.
b. Peer readers fill out the Personal Peer Reading Guide and
make comments & corrections on the paper as needed.
c. Peer readers check in your Personal Peer Reading Guide
when finished and then give the Guide and Project back to the author.
d. 5 points extra credit for additional peer reads.
e. Authors use comments to begin revisions.
f. If you are
turning your project in today, don’t forget to turn it in once you have had it
read and commented upon.
