Where this all came from...

The concept of a multigenre research paper is so simple and so obvious that I must admit a bit of embarrassment at not having thought of at least something like it at some in the past 15 years.  I'm sure I must have read about it or noted its mention here and there, but for some odd reason, it escaped me.  So, as we begin our creation of our own multigenre research papers, let me first acknowledge the expertise, assistance, and inspiration that has lead to my belief that this can be an incredibly powerful, meaningful, and useful composition project - perhaps the best I've seen in my career to date.

Mrs. Julie Rickert: She pursued this project zealously, researching in books, going to seminars, and even contacting one of the genre's leading experts to acquire extensive samples.  Without her help and energy, we wouldn't be doing this.

Dr. Tom Romano: That leading expert himself.  Haven't seen him speak yet, but I've read him, and his footprint is all over the literature writing about this type of writing.  If we are doing it, he probably thought of it.

All contributors to the November 2002 edition of The English Journal: This issue focused on multigenre research writing, giving the pros and cons as well as demonstrating that it works.  I will continue to return to this issue as our study unfolds.

Where this all leads to...

My starting point and intentions... maybe some observations along the way and conclusions towards the end...

I will sort through these later, but for now, here's the google search I did on the topic.  As you will see, it brings up all sorts of useful resources with samples, various teacher guidelines, etc.
