Object of the game: To provide a metaphorical (non-literal) answer to the questions below such that the "It" person can guess who or what he/she is.  The "It" that he/she is could be a famous person or place, an emotion, an animal, a fictional character--anything that can be guessed.

What you are doing: A metaphor is made up of two parts: the tenor and the vehicle.  For example, in the metaphor My love is a river, love is the tenor (the thing being described) and river is the vehicle (the thing we compare the tenor to in order to create a new meaning).  In this game, you are coming up with several different vehicles so that a classmate can try to guess at what or who they are.

How to play: One student goes out into the hall so that he/she cannot hear.  The class then picks a famous person or place, an emotion, an animal, a fictional character, etc. that it thinks the student could guess with the right clues.  The student then reenters the room, finds out the category of their "thing," and begins to ask a series of questions that the class can only answer in metaphors.  From these metaphors, the student tries to figure out who or what he/she is.  Below is an example of how a game might go.
