Creative Writing  2/10 – 2/14

Monday 2/10

1. Journal: 10 minute open write.

2. A few leftover Picture Based Short Story Readings.

3. Writer’s Workshop

    a. Finish Personal Narrative Prewriting (4 paragraphs) and have checked.  Portfolio materials will be checked at this time as well.

    b. Begin work on your personal narrative.  Your pre-writing is done so decide if you need and outline (not required) and begin drafting.

    c. I highly recommend you check the site for our Personal Narrative Samples so you can get a feel for how these should sound.  It’s up to you whether you think it’s better to do that early in your writing process or later.  There are pros and cons to either.

    d. Can we have rough drafts ready tomorrow?  We’ll decide late in the period.

Tuesday 2/11

1. Journal: What if?

2. Reader's and Writer's Workshop
    a. Half of you will get a Reader's Digest: your task is to find a personal narrative, read it, and then write a one page response to it. Due end of period.
    b. The other half is finish the RD of their Personal Narratives.

    c. If you finish your RD before the end of the period, you may begin revision on your own or you can get some informal peer reading.

3. Rough Drafts are officially due tomorrow – have your full draft ready to peer read.

Wednesday 2/12

1. Journal: 5 minute free write.

2. Reader's and Writer's Workshop
    a. Half of you will get a Reader's Digest: your task is to find a personal narrative, read it, and then write a one page response to it. Due end of period.
    b. The other half is to peer read (handout).

    c. When done peer reading, peer readers should bring me the completed peer reading sheet and the author’s rough draft for points.

Thursday 2/13

1. Journal: First Lines: tba

2. Reader's and Writer's Workshop
    a. If you haven’t done the Reader's Digest assignment: your task is to find a personal narrative, read it, and then write a one page response to it.
    b. Everyone should have peer read by the end of the period (handout).

    c. When done peer reading, peer readers should bring me the completed peer reading sheet and the author’s rough draft for points.

3. Once your Personal Narrative has been peer read, you may begin revision if desired.  We are, however, going to do a few more lessons on the Narrative next week, so if you’d like to hold off on revising, that is fine, even recommended.
