    a. Turn in all summer work - Journal & 2 SOAPS.
    b. Make sure you have it all.
    c. A note about documentation - are you sure your cited and did a Works Cited for any borrowed ideas?
    d. Get all your handouts!
    e. Mention maitespace & we'll be using eCampus.

Class Intro Workshop
    a.
Syllabus w/ Book List & Lit Permission Letter - signed by Friday.
    b. Review course requirements and class participation and work ethic info.
    c. Review academic integrity statement. (Signed and returned?)
    d. Some interesting class components
        1) You will be doing email conferences with your parents - based on your CP/WE grades!
        2) The AP Test:
             a. 3 Essays for 55% of your grade: *Theme  *Poetry Analysis (tone, etc) *Close Textual Reading
             b. 45% Multiple Choice
             c. AP Tests are Rhetorical Analysis, so that will be the focus of the class.
     e. Outline of first few weeks: Vignettes, Short Story talks, Lear projects, College essay.
4. Reader/Writer Workshop
    a. Take a look at a couple professional vignettes as models.
    b. Mark them up!
    c. Discuss and analyze - define and identify essential components.
    d. Doubtful, but if time, begin drafting yours.    
5. HW: Parent signatures as needed.

Wednesday 8/26

    a. Summer Assignment late/absent/citation turn in.
    b. Handouts for absences, etc.
    c. Turn in Academic Integrity Statement.

Reader/Writer Workshop
    a. Distribute Short Story List and Short Story Talk scoring guide. Discuss.
        1) In addition to what you find in your book, you can try to access etext for stories or choose one we aren't using from the book.
        2) Read your chosen short story as soon as possible.
    b.
Reminder: Search for a prompt for a college you will apply to. You can access prompts online on our computers as well.
    c. 5 minutes to review vignette samples and mark further.
    d.
Discuss and analyze vignettes - define and identify essential components.
    e. Draft vignettes  - RD due tomorrow.

4. HW: 1) RD of Vignette due tomorrow for peer review; 2) Choose and read short story; 3) Find college essay prompt if you are so inclined.
